Being in a new relationship is an exciting time for anyone. It is the same way for high-profile people, especially members of the royal family.

The only difference between us and them is that we have the freedom to go anywhere we please without the worry of being followed by hundreds of photographers. Royals such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are constantly being pursued by swarms of paparazzi, and at the beginning of their relationship, it is only natural that they wanted the privacy that the deserved.

We know Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry waited quite a while before going public with their romance. However, many people may not realize that Markle used to sneak into Kensington Palace to see Prince Harry.

When they were first getting to know each other, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry were carrying out a long-distance relationship. They were trying to connect, and they had the added pressure of living on different continents at the time.

When they were able to be together, they wanted privacy, and unfortunately, they didn’t always get it. According to Vanity Fair, it got to the point where Prince Harry released a statement expressing his concern for Markle’s safety, as she was being pursued by the news media like never before.

While at Victoria Yards in Johannesburg this afternoon, The Duchess of Sussex had the opportunity to learn more about the importance of, and how to enable a ‘wellbeing economy’ thanks to Co-Director of the Maker’s Valley Partnership, Simon Sizwe. Simon was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Young African Leaders Initiative programme initiated by President Obama, and he explained that by investing in the overall well-being of a community and its people, and focusing on that economy, you can enrich everyone for a better quality of life. She also met with the owners of Sobae Frozen, an entrepreneurial duo who created their small business as a solution to food waste, creating vegan sorbet from unused fruit from Victoria Yards. At the end of her visit, The Duchess was moved by the original poetry of Belita Andre, the winner of the Poetry Grandslam. In her reading she said: “The Maker’s Valley is a social and enterprise hub, a wave between my corner of the world and yours. Insisting that beyond the anchors of survival. Now that they are officially married and have welcomed their first royal baby, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still constantly finding themselves in the spotlight, possibly even more than they used to before. Millions of people are obsessed with Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and it seems as if they can hardly get a minute to themselves these days.

Fans were disappointed, according to NBC News, when they decided to keep Baby Archie’s christening a private affair. Most people were hoping to know all of the intimate details, such as the names of the godparents, yet Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry decided to keep that information to themselves.

Vogue reports that even months later, the couple is still fighting for their privacy, even going to so far as to sue two major British tabloids for voicemail hacking and releasing details of a private letter than Markle sent to her estranged father: Thomas Markle.

Prince Harry knows all too well the effects of media attention

It is only natural that Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have concerns regarding the excessive amount of media attention that they receive. Fans can remember all too well how Princess Diana, Prince Harry’s mother, tragically lost her life when she was involved in a car accident while being chased by photographers in Paris.

Since then, Prince Harry has always been rather sensitive about the spotlight, which is completely understandable considering the pain he went through as a result of losing his mother at such a young age. Recently, Prince Harry dished on the impact of his mother’s death in his documentary: Harry & Meghan: An African Journey,

“I think being part of this family — in this role, in this job — every single time I see a camera, every single time I hear a click, every single time I see a flash, it takes me straight back,” he said. “In that respect, it’s the worst reminder of her life as oppose to the best.”

“Being here now 22 years later trying to finish what she started will be incredibly emotional. But everything that I do reminds me of her,” he continued. “But as I said — with the role, with the job and sort of the pressures that come with that — I get reminded of the bad stuff.”

How Meghan Markle used to sneak into Kensington Palace to see Prince Harry

One of the things that fans may not be too aware of is the fact that Markle used to sneak into Kensington Palace to see Prince Harry. Express reports that the couple would have secret meetings and that Prince Harry would also sneak over to Toronto so he could quietly see his new girlfriend.

While many new couples enjoy hitting the town for evenings out, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry often prefer to stay in, even getting engaged at home while roasting a chicken. We have to say that we are happy that Prince Harry and Markle were able to get the privacy that they deserved, even if it did mean sneaking around. Although we enjoy seeing them, we understand that they like to keep details of their lives under wraps and enjoy the quieter side of things.
