Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reportedly Plan to Bring Archie to America for Thanksgiving – TownandCountrymag.com

Over the past year and a half, Meghan Markle has been introduced to numerous British customs through her position in the royal family. But this November, she’ll reportedly share a very American (and yes, Canadian) tradition with her husband and their son: Thanksgiving dinner.

According to the Sunday Times, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be taking six weeks off from their royal duties starting in November, and plan spend their first Thanksgiving as a family of three with Meghan’s mother Doria in L.A.

A royal source told reporter Roya Nikkah, “The duke and duchess have a full schedule of engagements and commitments until mid-November, after which they will be taking some much-needed family time.”

This news comes just one day after a clip from the forthcoming documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey showed the duchess opening up about how difficult new motherhood has been under such intense media scrutiny. The interview was filmed on the final day of the royal tour of South Africa, just hours after Prince Harry’s searing statement about the press was released.

In the footage, British broadcaster Tom Bradby asks Meghan about how the pressure from the media has impacted her mental and physical health.

Meghan responded by talking about this “really challenging” period in her life:

“Look any woman especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a newborn … And especially as a woman, it’s really, it’s a lot. So, you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. And also thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

When Bradby specifically asks her if it has been a struggle, the duchess simply says “yes.”

Harry & Meghan: An African Journey is being produced by ITV, and will air on October 20 in the U.K. It will later air in the U.S. on October 23 at 10 p.m. on ABC, in a special hosted by Robin Roberts.
